Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving or any other variation of the holiday that you celebrate, pretty soon there will be people gathering around your holiday table. So as you prepare your menu, shopping lists, wine pairings and the like, don’t forget your holiday tablescape! As you saw in The Mustard Story, gold is the perfect color accent for the holiday season. So here are few budget friendly DIY projects that can help bring that golden hue to your holiday table!
Tape off the area, leaving a pull tab. Use small, vertical brush strokes. Make sure, when applying gold leaf, that you use it sparingly. A little goes a long way.
After two light coats, and twenty minutes to dry, gently pull the tape upwards. If there is some spillage, the edge of a razor can clean it up easily.
Apply a light coat of glue over the area you want. Make sure to work quickly, because the glue wont stay wet for long.
Press the glue into a pile of the glitter. You can also shake the glitter onto the glue, but you wont get as dense coverage.
Using the pliers, heat the tip of the tack. This will help the tack slide into the wax without breaking it. It works easiest if you work straight down.
Place the tacks touching each other on the horizontal row. You can overlap the vertical rows for a scaling effect. Use your imagination!
