IMG_20170605_095650.jpg

Warm up your winter wedding day with deep shades of red along with crisp white blossoms. With the romantic atmosphere surrounding a winter wedding, red roses are the perfect flower for your bouquet; however, it is also common to see white orchids and carnations among the mix as well.

The perfect season for freshly bloomed flowers! Think lilacs, pale pinks, and soft whites as you head into picking out your bouquet for your springtime wedding. Peonies are one of our favorite spring blooms as well as tulips, hydrangeas, and lilacs!

It’s time to get that pop of color into your sunny summer day! For summer weddings, it’s great to have bright and fun flowers surrounding your day! From multicolored poppies to bright sunflowers, your options on colors are endless.

To compliment fall’s natural foliage, there’s a variety of flowers to choose from for your autumn wedding day. From oranges to deep purples, the possibilities are endless! Try different autumn-inspired shades of lilies as well as some fun bi-colored roses!

Wedding Trends of 2017

We are counting down the days to the start of the 2017 wedding season! Have you begun designing your big day? We want to help jump start your planning process with our top 4 picks of 2017 wedding trends.

Want to impress your guests? Dazzle them with something extra in the sky! Aerial decor is one of the newest and biggest trends of 2017. Couples are adding this extra detail to really top off (pun intended!) their big day's design.  So whether you want a floral chandelier or have edison bulbs hanging over your reception tables, there is an aerial concept for every type of style.

Yay for metallics! We love that this trend shines on in 2017! Metallic shades of copper, rose gold and pewter continue to be mixed into wedding designs. As with most design elements, you need to find a balance so that your full concept is at it's best. We like a design that mixes metallic accents with softer color palettes, like blush tones and ivory.

Who doesn't love flowers! Floral design has become one of the more important details of wedding design and we are loving the trend. Long gone are the days where roses took center stage! Think soft-petal blooms! Peonies, dahlias, Japanese ranunculus are in high demand not just for the bridal party flowers but statement pieces on your bar, incorporated into your ceremony and anywhere you need that extra wow factor. These beautiful blooms add romance to your big day's style.

For years brides were sticking with soft palettes of blushes, creams and taupes. Now we are moving into the trend of color; bright, bold and exciting color. Wedding design is heading to make strong statements and bride's first entry into big design is through the use of color. Its a great way to add warmth to a large space or showcase your personal style on your wedding day.

The Peaches and Cream Story

STUNNING VINTAGE/RUSTIC WEDDING AT THE FAMILY FARM: REBECCA + CHRIS

Inspiration came naturally for Rebecca & Chris. "My husband Chris and I knew we wanted our wedding to be held at my family's farm. It was a place where not only I grew up, but where our relationship grew as well. We spent a lot of time there together, taking in all that this beautiful property had to offer!"

It even helped them save on the decor! "Back in the day, it was a dairy farm, and is now home to the family's maple syrup operation. The barn was filled (and I mean filled) with 60+ years of antique milk bottles, jars, tools, and farm equipment."

This location is absolutely stunning! Every detailfits perfectly for this vintage/rustic look, but it took a little elbow grease, Rebecca explains. "Since this started as a blank slate, I would say majority of the budget went to "creating the venue". This was an old, cluttered and dirty barn that was still in current use! We spent the entire summer cleaning it out, repairing, fixing roads, driveways and landscaping." There were plenty of outside expenses, too. "We also rented a tent (with tables, chairs, lighting and dance floor) to provide a place for dinner and dancing. Another bulk of the budget went to food, which was appetizers for the cocktail hour, and the dinner itself. We made the desserts ourselves!"

Rebecca had a little piece of advice for future brides and grooms out there. "First of all, breathe and relax!! Come wedding day, just know that you have done all you could, and it is all going to be worth it. If something small didn't get done, don't sweat it, you will be the ONLY one who knows! But most of all, cherish every single second of that day. It goes by quickly. If you can, step away from the noise and be with each other for a few moments. Take it all in and embrace that beautiful moment with each other. You're really married now!!!

The Watercolor Story

In a day and age of rapidly improving technology and mass production, is it any wonder that couples are starting to embrace handmade and artistic wedding looks? Watercolor defines that to a T! Our favorite thing about watercolors is how fluid, organic and honest it is. Every color blends and every stroke is forever. We love how the entire palette pops! Pinks, purples, turquoise, greens and blues all blend together for a look that's full of personality and joie de vivre.

One of the greatest things about this look is that it doesn't need perfect lines and uniformity. You can mix and match colored glasses, and it still maintains that perfect feel (providing you stay in your color palette.) And, adding handmade elements like painted table assignments are a great way to connect with your guests in a personal manner.

Enjoy this colorful and lively photo shoot, and fall in love with this beautiful spring/summer look!

Whimsical Bohemian Wedding: Francesca + Dennis

Francesca & Dennis, who met when they were 18 years old, chose a venue close to Francesca's heart, her childhood day camp Camp Massasoit at Springfield College, so she could incorporate her best memories from childhood. This August wedding captures the best elements of bohemian saturated colors and whimsical details. It all works together to create this magical day.

We asked Francesca where she got her inspiration for the wedding's style, because we are swooning over it! Francesca shares, All over the place!! Magazines, Pinterest, other weddings I've been to. At the camp they have this special spot in the woods called The Chapel of the Pines. The spot is so magical and ethereal it sparked inspiration in me and the next thing I knew the ideas were coming.

The budget talk! Paying for a wedding can be overwhelming so we asked Francesca and Dennis to give us their lessons learned during their experience. The biggest ticket item for us was the location and the food. There is never a time that you want to skimp on food. No one will have fun if they're hungry! But keep your budget in mind when you choose your venue and caterer. Have your budget worked out before you start the planning process, this way you know your budget for each part of the wedding. Things will be adjusted but at least you will be able to have a starting point that you are comfortable with.

The Botaniste captured Francesca's vision in this STUNNING, textural bouquet.

Francesca offers up advice to future brides and grooms. Enjoy the process. Start early so you get to have everything you want. It will give you a chance to shop around and save money. Most importantly, don't stress too much. The day is going to go so fast you won't even notice half the stuff you spent so much time worrying about- and your guests won't either! I wish I could go back and do it all over again.

Look at those favors! Details like this make an event but details mean work. Francesca and Dennis tell us about their decision to hire a wedding planner. We decided to hire a planners to help us through the process and it was the best decision we made. Our planner was our rock. She helped us from start to finish. From budget planning to site visits and rentals to decor and more importantly- execution of the decor- which is harder than one may think. She was my "day of" coordinator as well, which I think is necessary regardless of whether you decide to have a wedding planner or not. Otherwise, your friends and family are stressed trying to help get all the last minute stuff done rather than enjoying the day getting ready and being in the moment.

These pictures are amazing! Lydia Leclair of Lydia Leclair Photography captured every single detail of this amazing wedding. Even the dreamy night sky!

Rustic Copper

header.jpg

Metallics continue to trend in the wedding industry so we wanted to create a love note to our favorite, copper. There is something about metallics that add that extra sparkle but copper brings it to new level. Working with this color to bring warmth to your event's design is a great way to add style while keeping the budget in check!

Prominent places to add color are in your linens, chargers and your wedding party's attire. Having these elements showcase this golden-orange hue will bring a richness to your big day's style.

Copper can be paired with any colors in your color wheel and works with in any decor style. So, from whimsical to modern, copper is your answer! Enjoy this shoot's metallic wedding inspiration in copper hues.

Let the 2016 games begin!

house of cards

How your guests find their seating can be a fun way to incorporate creative flare into your wedding by personalizing your place cards and seating charts. Conventional paper tee pee cards can be cute, but why not make things more fun? Here are 4 different ways to spice up your seating arrangements and get your guests saying “wow!” The key is to make it fun AND easy for your guests to find their seats.

Succulents have been extremely popular lately. The intricate designs of the actual plant and their taupe greens can add a sophisticated pop of color to a wedding any time of year!  Stick these little plants into mini ceramic pots, metal planters or glass votives. As far as the actual seating cards simply pop in a little paper flag! Plus, this can double as a gift for your lovely guests!

Clementines, lemons, limes and pears can actually work fantastically to stick a place card in. All you have to do is get your fruit and slice a small slit to pop in your place card! If you are using this technique you should laminate your cards because they will soak up the juice from the fruit. You can also poke your seating tags into the fruit as well. Want the seating cards to look like the leaf of the fruit? Use green paper and cut each card in the shape of a leaf. Pop a pin through the card to the stem of the fruit! What an adorable pop of spring or summer color!

This idea is totally affordable and perfect for a beach or garden wedding. Collect rocks of different shapes, sizes and colors and write your guests names on them. It’s as easy as that! You can play with different types and colors of ink as well as which type of layout you decide to put the rocks in.

Looking for a more cohesive and elegant approach to a seating chart? Try framing an actual chart with table numbers and guest’s names. This can turn into a fun DIY that you might actually be able to use even after your wedding. You could try a large mirror or a canvas-backed frame. To add a country touch, remove the backing of the frame and add chicken wire and clip the guest’s seating cards to it!

Get creative with your seating and make a lasting impression!

DIY Crystal Branches

Looking to add a whimsical flare to a wedding centerpiece, a dinner party, or even just your living room table? These DIY crystal snow branches are simply perfect to bring a little bit of winter’s beauty into any space. Buy these in store and you’re looking to spend anywhere between $10 and $30! Here’s how to DIY these crystal branches for a fraction of the cost.

Branches - I suggest birch branches which you can find at Michael’s, AC Moore or better yet, your back yard!

Tacky Glue - Aleene’s would work great. You want to use a very tacky glue to ensure that anything your decorating your branches with will actually stick.

Glitter, Fake Snow, or Colorfill Diamonds Vase Filler – In order to get that super icy texture you should try using the Colorfill Diamonds Vase Filler. If you’re looking for a finer texture give glitter or fake snow a try. For some super dazzling branches, try a combination of the three!

step-1.jpg

Gently apply glue to the branch with a paint brush. If you are using branches from the outdoors, make sure they are clean and entirely dry.

Directly after applying the glue, apply the glitter, fake snow, or Colofill to the branch you are working with. This part can get a little tricky. To make the process easier try laying the branch on a clean and protected surface and slowly pour the contents over the branch, adding more where needed and repeating the process.

step-3.jpg

Let the branches dry! It’s as easy as that. Think of the possibilities! You could add these branches to a bouquet, a centerpiece, a mantle, whatever your heart desires. You could also try this DIY with pine cones for a woodsier look.
