Hey guys! Welcome back for another update on this crazy wedding planning process. Things seem to be even crazier right now, but I’m thanking my lucky stars that our wedding is not until the fall versus happening sooner with COVID-19 messing up everyone’s plans. While I’m hoping our efforts to flatten the curve will help everyone stay as healthy as possible, my heart goes out to all the couples scrambling to adjust their plans for weddings that are supposed to be happening right now. If you’re in the boat of shifting weddings, make sure you check out the article we put together to help you through this time!
COVID hasn’t had too much of an impact on our planning, thankfully! As soon as things clean up we need to get the boys their suits and our flower girls their dresses. Flower girl dresses are a tricky thing to get the timing correct on. Ours are turning 2 and 4 this summer, which means they’re growing up so fast right now and you want to make sure the dresses will fit on the actual wedding! For the boys, we’re trying to determine if the groomsmen will be buying their suits or renting. Jaren will be buying his, but we don’t want to stick the groomsmen with another suit if they don’t think they’ll get a lot of use out of it. BUT, there are some great deals out there for wedding parties! I highly recommend checking out Joseph A Bank for your groomsmen. They have a phenomenal deal for wedding parties and have locations all over the country, so it’s great if your party is located in different places. If you’re looking for something super simple, check out The Black Tux. All online, you can either rent or purchase a variety of suits. You can do an at-home try on to determine if the suit is right for you. If you’re renting, they send the suit out two weeks ahead of time, that way if there are any issues you have plenty of time to get things fixed before the big day.
Also coming down the pipeline is our invitation suite!!! I am so excited about this! Our Art Director, Dave Buscemi, is a phenomenal artist and I’m so excited to see what he comes up with. He’s working on it as we speak and I just can’t wait to see it. It’s crazy to think that we’ll be sending them out sooner than later! Next up is deciding on envelopes once we see the suite and deciding how we want to get them addressed. I would prefer not to spend all the money to have them handwritten in calligraphy, but the printing job we had professionally done for our Save the Dates was really disappointing, and also not cheap. I’m considering ordering a template from Etsy and trying to print the envelopes myself. We’re in the testing phase for this right now, so I can’t say for sure if it’s the road we’ll be taking or not.

Before we can send out the invitations, we need to finalize our Welcome Party too. We decided that a Welcome Party would be a fun addition to the weekend’s festivities. We wanted to keep our Rehearsal Dinner small, just wedding party and immediate family, so we decided a Welcome Party would be a great way to spend some time with the guests traveling in from out of town before the big day!
Back in January, we had our menu tasting at the venue for the wedding! I don’t want to give any details yet, but OMG I am so excited!!! Everything was incredible and I can’t wait for our guests to enjoy it. We left super full and super happy. Now we get to work on determining exactly what we want to have when. It’s been a fun experience custom picking our entire menu and discussing cake ideas… I’m just really looking forward to seeing everything come together in a few short months!
Over the last couple of months, I ordered my veil (I’m so in love!) and we booked our honeymoon! We’re crossing our fingers that everything will calm down with the coronavirus and not cause any hiccups in any of our fall festivities, including the wedding and the honeymoon. So cheers to love and health! I hope that everyone is coping well with their social distancing and that this will all blow over soon and with minimal fallout.
